Environmentally-Unriendly Package – Picture 1 – Immediately I noticed no recyclable symbol on this package. It is a tin of sorts that I can just picture filling up landfills, as its strange shape probably leads people to think it can’t be brought in for metal recycling. But of course, its the classic canned ham – and the packaging immediately announces it.

Environmentally-Unfriendly Package – Picture 3 – I have never purchased a bag of rice and never noticed until today that the packaging for a 25 pound bag seems to be made of some weird material that I can’t imagine recycling.  Not only does the bag seem incredibly hard to reseal, the packaging just seems like an entire waste.  Looking at it, you know its a bag of rice before even reading the label.  I imagine there must be better materials to use for bags of rice.

Environmentally-Friendly Package – Picture 1 – I felt this package of salami was environmentally-friendly because of the resealable, heavy duty plastic bag it came in.  I see it being able to be cleansed and reused for many different things, and not going in the trash and contributing to waste.  The package is resealable and makes me think that this food item is one you can go back to and snack on without having to worry about it going bad.  I would pay only a small amount more for environmentally-friendly packaging as it seems that it isn’t that difficult for many other brands to create environmentally-friendly packaging already.

Environmentally-Friendly Package – Picture 2 – Immediately I take note of all of the materials involved in the package and its contents.  This is a package of beer – not only is the outside cardboard recyclable but so are the bottles inside.  You can have fun and drink your beer and save the planet at the same time!

Environmentally-Friendly Package – Picture 3 – Everyone I know saves old coffee cans, and if they don’t – they recycle them.  This is what I call environmentally friendly packaging.

Freshness Anywhere – Picture 1 – I can’t help but think of Will Smith – the Fresh Prince of Bel Air when I think of the word “fresh”.  Fresh equals cool in this context.   If we go back to the mid-90′s when this show came out, it represents the “fresh” style and hip clothing for that period.  This brings back a lot of memories of that time for me and the crazy neon clothes I used to beg my mom to buy me whenever we went to the mall.

Freshness Anywhere – Picture 2 -  Fresh squeezed orange juice is so tasty.  I thought I’d find a nice picture to exemplify the “freshness” but couldn’t find any of an orange actually being squeezed.  I see this picture and immediately want some fresh squeezed OJ (and maybe an umbrella in my drink).   Not only does this cry of bright sunny mornings, the sun seeming new and alive – but also brings thoughts of grabbing the morning paper with some eggs and bacon and sitting, enjoying a fresh new day.

Packaged Freshness – Picture 1 – This picture called out “Freshness!” to me. The package is a cute, single serving container with fresh ingredients. I thought it would be fresh based on the fact that there is meat in the container and all of the ingredients appeared to be very fresh. I purchased this salad, and it was indeed fresh! Very tasty.

Packaged Freshness – Picture 2 – This package of grapes looked very fresh to me. It even says “TASTY FRESH” right on the package. I’m used to seeing packages like this with very fresh produce, so I was assured it would be, well, fresh. After trying a grape, I knew I was correct and the package didn’t lie!

Packaged Freshness – Picture 3 – This is a picture of some bottles of Dial body wash.  I currently use this brand and I must say, I immediately think “fresh” when I see this packaging.  Not only do the visuals of splashing water and mountain foliage make you think of being refreshed, the actual product definitely makes you feel refreshed.  I take “refreshing” to be very similar to “fresh”.

Salad Inspiration – Picture 1 – This is a picture of a bag of Safeway brand Garlic & Butter croutons as taken from my pantry. The salads I make taste so good with these on them. I’m reminded of how tasty they are with Thousand Island dressing and cheddar cheese and it makes me want a salad.

Salad Inspiration – Picture 2 – This is a picture of the door of my refrigerator featuring several different salad dressings.  When I’m out of lettuce and I see them there, it makes me want to go out to the store and get some lettuce to enjoy a tasty salad.  Just seeing certain things in my kitchen makes me want to eat them – I’m always hungry!

Really Bad Salad Package – Picture 1 – I’ve purchased this brand before (found at Safeway) and I didn’t like the package itself, although the label was pretty. I find that opening this type of package requires me to get another type of Ziploc bag to put the remaining salad in to keep it fresh. I would add a zipper lock to the bag to make it better packaging.

Really Bad Salad Package – Picture 2 – Found at Safeway. Although the packaging is really eye-popping, the salad like the one above requires me to put it in another plastic bag to keep it fresh. I would definitely add a zipper lock or slide zipper of sorts to prevent the usage and waste of another plastic bag.  Otherwise, there isn’t much about the package that I like.

Great Salad Package – Picture 1 – This is a great package for salad as it is a conveniently sized bag and contains a sticky tab-lock closure to keep the salad fresh. I found this package at Safeway (actually purchased this one). The only thing that I could think of to make this package better would be to have a zipper lock that seals it better.

Great Salad Package – Picture 2 – This is a great package for salad as it is packaged for a single serving with fresh ingredients in cute little compartments. This makes it look like a full meal. I found this at Safeway and I wouldn’t change anything about the packaging as it is a single serving and perfect for it.

Great Salad Package – Picture 3 – I really liked this package for the salad. Not only does it display all of the great qualities of the lettuce (organic, washed, etc.) but it comes in a plastic container that easily closes for re-use. I see this also coming in handy after the lettuce is gone (rinse and use for other foods, baked goods, etc.) I found this at Safeway as well, and think the package is great and nothing needs to be changed.
